2018 Spartan Football

Your CENTENNIAL SPARTANSfinished the year with an incredible 11-2 record!  This team was predicted to not even finish with a winning season according to the "experts" and these young men proved every single one of them wrong.  They had a 9 game winning streak and shut out the other teams 3 games in a row with a streak of 164 unanswered points.  The SPARTANS also beat the elk to get the Battle of the Boot trophy back where it should be at Centennial High School.
The offense scored 473 points (average of 36 points per game) and the defense shut down our opponents only allowing 248 points (19 point average).  Ben Harwell was 100% for the year on field goals and only had 1 extra point blocked (which would have gone in so we will call that 100% on extra points too!).   Perfect snapping and holding from Brayden Chandler and Hunter Prescher gave Ben all the tools he needed to be successful.
The offensive line led by Owen Romero, Trevor Suggs, Ryan Chappell, Tyler Meksavanh, Jacob Dodgen, Griffith Peatrowsky, Andres Sandoval, and Jayden Fleming did a tremendous job and allowed both Kyle Burns and Hank Meyer to have amazing seasons.  The running game was strong this year due to the hard work from Jaylon Jackson, Jeff Kervin, and Chris Mosley.  Our recievers including Brendan Jenkins, Shamar Patterson, and Monte Johnson racked up some great receiving stats.  The offensive side of the game is much easier when your defense is on point.  Huge thanks to Tyler Stephens, Zach Scarbourgh, Michael Kornack, Cole Ward, Mykel Parker, Mazin Richards, Corey Price, Darrell Williams and Da'Quan Campbell.  There were tons of other great players that worked hard every single day to create this record setting season.  The football team would like to thank the trainer staff for their long hours and support.
The Spartan Football Boosters would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous help with the 2018 Football Season.  These sponsors helped feed the kids, provide extra training equipment, purchase a new run through tunnel, and get extra training for our coaching staff.  Please think of using these local companies for any of your needs as they have demonstrated a desire to support our local team with their time, energy, and money.

    Apex Homes
We would like to thank Angelique Hays with Layton Hays Photography for her incredible sideline photography.  Her great pictures were used all season long  in our emails and we appreciate all of her hard work getting the hard to get pictures which included her getting run over by players a couple times!
Our Banquet will be held on January 28th in the CHS Cafeteria at 6:30.  Roscoe's BBQ will cater.  All athletes and trainers will be provided a meal free of charge.  This event is open to the public and we encourage EVERYONE to attend and celebrate the amazing season we just finished.  Additional information will be coming on how to purchase additional meal tickets to this event-$12 per person.  There is NO CHARGE to attend if you elect not to eat.
We purchased sweat bottoms and hoodies for the kids last week to be checked out and handed back in.  Apparently the kids really liked them because quite a few have asked about purchasing them.  If you would like to purchase them the cost is $50.  We will accept cash, check and Paypal payments to chsspartantough@gmail.com.  The cash and check payments can be given to the coaches and they will turn the money in to the booster club.
Thank you to all of our senior players for their dedication to the program.  Each year we start with 100+ freshman and by the time they reach their senior year only the strongest and most dedicated players survive.  Thanks again Class of 2019 Spartans.

PLAYOFFS ....... it's a Tradition.

Your AREA CHAMPION Centennial Spartans are facing the Frisco Reedy Lions tonight at 7:00 in the Regional Semi-Final game.  This game will be played on neutral territory at Dragon Stadium in Southlake.  (1085 S Kimball Ave, Southlake, TX 76092).

Tickets are $10.00 at the gate per person.  Southlake ISD is charging $5.00 per car for parking.

We are sending the men off in style today at 3:30.  Fans are encouraged to arrive at Centennial to line the drive from the indoor to Fox Lane at 2:00 to help decorate and cheer them on to a victory tonight.  Bring all the signs and noisemakers you can!

Frisco Reedy and Centennial are evenly matched.  Reedy is 12-0 and the Spartans are 11-1.  Reedy averages 44 points per game and allows 15, and the Spartans average 39 points and allow 18.   Reedy is ranked number 26 (9th in 5A) in the state and Centennial is 49th.  Both teams are obviously talented and the winner (hopefully Centennial) will advance to the Regional round to play against the winner of the Aledo vs. South Oak Cliff game tonight in Midlothian.  (GO SOUTH OAK CLIFF BEARS!)

Winning tonight will give this years team the most successful playoff run in Spartan history.  We made it to the Regional Semi-Finals in 2015 and lost to Canyon Randall 35-7.   The 2015 team went 9-4.

Week 3 - Spartan News

HUGE WIN over Denison!!

Coming off of our big win over #10 in the state Corsicana, the Spartans played a great game against Denison and pulled out a win in the last minute of the game!  With a great snap from Brayden Chandler, a perfect hold from Hunter Prescher, and a solid 25 yard field goal from Ben Harwell the Spartans were able to go ahead 52-49 over the Yellow Jackets.  The win was confirmed when Da'Quan Campbell pulled down an interception in the end zone in the last seconds of the 4th quarter.  A tremendous effort from our offensive line helped Kyle Burns put up 452 yards of total offense. The Spartan defense forced a couple turnovers and did their best to give the Yellow Jackets a tough experience at BISD Stadium.
